Question 1

How much e go cost me?

Accepted Answer

For rentals — ₦7,000 per area: ₦3,000 search fee (non-refundable) + ₦4,000 transport held in escrow. Transport goes to your agent when you inspect; refunded if no inspection happens within 7 days. For purchase and land briefs, fees are slightly higher — you'll see the exact breakdown before you pay. Your agent's landlord commission is agreed between you directly — HouseRun takes nothing from it.

Question 2

When does money actually leave my account?

Accepted Answer

You pay when you submit your brief. The payment is split: ₦3,000 goes to HouseRun immediately (search fee), and ₦4,000 sits in escrow. The escrow releases to your agent only after a confirmed inspection. If no inspection happens within 7 days, the ₦4,000 is automatically refunded to you.

Question 3

What's the landlord commission about?

Accepted Answer

Agent landlord commission is separate from HouseRun fees — it's a deal between you and your agent. HouseRun doesn't see it, take a cut from it, or require you to pay it through the platform. Typical Lagos rates are 5–10% of annual rent, negotiated directly.

Question 4

These agents — can I trust them?

Accepted Answer

Every agent goes through NIN verification, selfie matched to ID, address document review, bank account confirmation, and mandatory training before admin approves them to work. Company agents also go through CAC verification.

Question 5

What happens if my agent goes quiet?

Accepted Answer

You can message your agent directly in the brief chat. If there's no activity after 48 hours, you can raise a dispute through the app and our team steps in. If the brief expires without any property submissions, you get a full refund of the ₦4,000 transport escrow.

Question 6

Can I choose a specific agent?

Accepted Answer

Not directly — briefs are matched to agents based on their registered territory. You can browse verified agents on the Agents page and see their track record, but assignment happens through the platform. This keeps the process fair and prevents agents from cherry-picking.

Question 7

What if I no like any property they send?

Accepted Answer

Your brief stays active for 7 days. Your agent keeps searching. If nothing suits you and no viewing is arranged within 7 days, the ₦4,000 transport escrow is refunded automatically within 24 hours.

Question 8

What if the agent sends something that doesn't fit my brief?

Accepted Answer

You can mark any suggested property as "Not suitable" with optional feedback. The agent sees your feedback and keeps searching. Repeated irrelevant submissions are flagged to our team.

Question 9

How many areas can I search at once?

Accepted Answer

You can add multiple areas to a single brief — each area adds its own fee (₦7,000 for rental, more for purchase/land). More areas means more agents, more properties, higher chance of finding a match.

Question 10

Does this work for buying property or land — not just renting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Post a brief for a rental, a property to buy, or a plot of land. The flow is the same — agent searches your area, sends private suggestions with photos and notes, you arrange a viewing when ready.

Question 11

Which states do you cover?

Accepted Answer

Lagos, FCT (Abuja), Rivers (Port Harcourt), Oyo (Ibadan), Anambra (Onitsha/Awka), Enugu, Delta (Warri/Asaba), Kano, and Kaduna. More states are being onboarded — if your city is not listed, drop us a message at support@houserun.ng.

Question 12

I dey abroad — can I still use this?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Everything happens remotely until you're ready. Your agent visits the property, records a full video walkthrough, and sends voice notes. You fly in (or send a rep) for one viewing when you've found something worth seeing.
